Summary: Hiya Kids Daily Hydration is a kid-friendly electrolyte drink mix designed to support hydration, digestion, and overall wellbeing without added sugar or artificial ingredients. Formulated with balanced electrolytes, real fruit powders, and prebiotic fiber, it’s tailored to children’s needs during active play, hot days, illness, or everyday hydration. In practice, it proved both enjoyable for kids and reassuring for a parent seeking clean, minimal, science-backed nourishment.

What I love:

 • Clean, thoughtfully formulated with no added sugar, artificial dyes, or unnecessary fillers, and third-party tested for safety
 • Kid-approved taste from real fruit powders, making water more appealing without sugary juices or sports drinks
 • Includes electrolytes plus prebiotic fiber and bonus nutrients to support hydration, gut health, immunity, and stable energy

Things to keep in mind:

 • Powder requires extra stirring or a frother to fully dissolve
 • May feel unnecessary for kids who already hydrate well with plain water
 • As a supplement, it’s an added cost compared to water or homemade hydration options

I watch from the kitchen window as my two children ride their scooters in the cul-de-sac with the other neighborhood kids. He’s two, she’s four, and they have respective blue and pink scooters that light up when they get going fast enough. The dads chat with each other close by, spaced far enough apart to serve as a barrier between the kids and the open world beyond our street.

So much of parenthood centers around keeping our little ones regulated, which is why if you ask me for parenting advice, I won’t have much to say other than this: When in doubt, go outside, keep them nourished, and sneak in as many snuggles as possible. These practices are tried and true in our day-to-day lives and, in my experience, the fastest way to better sleep, generally cheerful moods, and happy, growing kids.

“My north stars are prioritizing protein when possible, encouraging hydration, and incorporating fiber when we can.”

As for nourishment, my north stars are prioritizing protein when possible, encouraging hydration, and incorporating fiber when we can (this is the hardest one for us!). All of this keeps their blood sugar levels stable and their digestion moving, leading to brains and bodies that are active and properly processing the world around them.

As a mother, my mind is constantly scanning my surroundings for the best, most efficient ways to keep us all well and thriving, and I approach any tools that can support us in this way with cautious optimism. I lean more minimal when it comes to supplements, but I’d heard about Hiya’s good reputation and was intrigued when I read about their formulation that includes balanced minerals and prebiotic fiber.

About Hiya

Hiya is a kids’ supplement brand founded in 2019 by two dads, Darren Litt and Adam Gillman, who were frustrated by the lack of healthy options for children’s vitamins after seeing popular gummy supplements that were high in sugar and artificial additives. They wanted a cleaner, science-backed alternative they could confidently give their own kids, so they teamed up with pediatricians and nutritionists to formulate products with essential nutrients and no added sugar or unnecessary fillers.

“Their products use carefully selected, transparent ingredients, avoid artificial dyes and sugars, and are made in cGMP-compliant facilities.”

From the start, Hiya has emphasized high safety and ingredient standards. Their products use carefully selected, transparent ingredients, avoid artificial dyes and sugars, and are made in cGMP-compliant facilities.

Every batch of Hiya’s supplements is third-party tested for contaminants such as heavy metals and microbes — one of the first things I personally look for in a supplement — and most of their products have been independently validated for purity and earned independent certifications like the Clean Label Project, including the hydration support.

Do kids really need a hydration supplement?

As a mother trying to strike the ever-elusive balance between doing all I can for my children and keeping overwhelm at bay, my first question regarding supplemental hydration was this: Do kids really need a hydration supplement? And if so, can’t they just have some of mine?

“Do kids really need a hydration supplement? And if so, can’t they just have some of mine?”

Here is what I learned: Hydration support is most important during active play or sports, hot days, and whenever kids are likely to sweat or need additional hydration, like when they’re traveling or under the weather. Furthermore, because children’s electrolyte needs and palates differ from adults’, this kid-targeted blend helps maintain fluid balance without excess sodium or added sugars, making it suitable for everyday use, school days, and on-the-go hydration.

Hiya Kids Daily Hydration is a gentle, kid-friendly electrolyte drink mix designed to make water more appealing while supporting healthy hydration throughout the day. Unlike traditional sugary sports drinks, it’s formulated with real fruit powders — including strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, orange, and lemon — that give a naturally fruity taste without artificial dyes or sweeteners. These fruit powders come from concentrated real fruits, providing flavor and a small amount of vitamin C while keeping the ingredient list clean and recognizable.

“It’s formulated with real fruit powders — including strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, orange, and lemon — that give a naturally fruity taste without artificial dyes or sweeteners.”

The formula balances key electrolytes like potassium, sodium, and magnesium with Himalayan pink salt and coconut water to help replenish minerals kids lose through play, illness, sports, or warm weather activity. My favorite thing about Hiya’s hydration for kids is that it also includes prebiotic fiber from artichoke inulin to support gut health, digestion, immunity, and stabilize blood sugar levels, and bonus nutrients like vitamin C, calcium, and iron.

Unboxing and first sips

As any parent knows, a small task can seemingly take ages, which can be a drag if you’re trying to get somewhere in a hurry. But this can also be a gift if you’d like to turn a simple task into an activity! That’s exactly what we did with our Hiya bundles.

Each kit comes with its own package of stickers to personalize their containers, so of course, we got to work right away. Afterward, my daughter enjoyed pouring the powder into their containers, and my son enjoyed licking the remnants off the countertop.

Unprompted, my daughter said, “Tasty! Thank you, mama,” when she had her first sips. I mean, that’s about as good as it gets as far as kid reviews go! I tried it too, and honestly, I am happy to polish off the rest of theirs when they inevitably get distracted and run off to play. It reminds me of strawberry lemonade, and I plan to serve it to them over ice and with a crazy straw on hot summer days later in the year.

“Unprompted, my daughter said, ‘Tasty! Thank you, mama,’ when she had her first sips. I mean, that’s about as good as it gets as far as kid reviews go!”

I’ll note that the powder takes quite a bit of stirring to dissolve, and I recommend using a frother for more seamless mixing. Nevertheless, if you don’t have a frother, putting it in their water bottle at the beginning of the day, giving it a few good shakes, and leaving it to finish dissolving on the countertop ahead of school drop-off works well, too.

The powder takes quite a bit of stirring to dissolve, and I recommend using a frother for more seamless mixing.

My favorite thing about Hiya’s hydration for kids is not only is it a fun treat I can give to my kids that serves as a highlight in their day, but it’s also a steady reinforcement to their immune, nervous system, and gut health. Happy juice for them, sigh of relief for me.

Final thoughts

I recommend Hiya’s hydration support as a helpful tool in any parent’s arsenal that can support kids’ hydration, digestion, and overall wellbeing. It’s also a fantastic alternative if you have a chronic juice drinker and would like to transition them to something with less sugar and more health benefits.

When you receive your bundle in the mail, be sure to clear the hour ahead — mix some potions, craft with stickers, and make some memories together! Such things are the most nourishing parts of their childhood, after all.

Don’t forget to cheers for healthy hydration!

Our team has tested and researched dozens of strollers for our babies — these are our top selections for safety, non-toxic materials, and design across a range of price points.

You know what baby gear isn’t really optional? A stroller. For most parents, it’s part of daily survival. It’s how we get out of the house when we’re exhausted, how we squeeze in fresh air when the days feel long, and how we manage errands, walks, travel, and life with a baby (or toddler) in tow. Our strollers get folded and unfolded, lifted in and out of the trunk with one hand, and pushed over cracked sidewalks while we’re juggling coffee, snacks, and everything else we bring “just in case.”

Because of all that, a stroller has to work — and work well. It needs to be lightweight but sturdy, easy to maneuver, ergonomic for tired bodies, and comfortable enough that our baby actually wants to sit (and hopefully nap) in it. When we finally make it outside for a walk, we want it to feel calming and enjoyable, not like another thing to wrestle with.

And once those basics are covered, many of us start thinking about something else: what our baby is actually sitting in. Stroller seats and straps are in constant contact with their skin (and mouth, iykyk), and not all fabrics are created equal. Some are treated with flame retardants, PFAS (often called “forever chemicals”), and other synthetic finishes we’d rather keep out of our children’s everyday environment. That’s usually when the search begins for a stroller that functions beautifully and is made from safer materials.

The good news? Parents don’t have to choose between performance and peace of mind — not anymore. More brands are finally listening and designing strollers that are lightweight, thoughtfully engineered, and made with non-toxic fabrics that support babies’ comfort and our sanity. The strollers below are raising the bar, and as very tired parents, we’re genuinely grateful for it.

What stroller materials are safest for everyday use?

If you’re trying to limit unnecessary chemical exposure (without sacrificing comfort or practicality), here are some fabrics and certifications that are worth paying attention to:

GREENGUARD GOLD certified fabrics
Products with this certification are tested for low chemical emissions, especially volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can off-gas into the air and contribute to indoor air pollution. GREENGUARD Gold is a more stringent standard designed for sensitive groups, such as children. This means certified products tend to release fewer chemicals into the air than uncertified ones, which can be beneficial for items your baby uses frequently.

Organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and because it’s a natural fiber, it doesn’t typically require chemical finishes. That makes it a good choice for breathability and comfort, especially next to baby’s skin. Many stroller brands that prioritize safer materials use cotton certified organic or GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).

Wool or wool-blend fabrics
Wool has natural temperature-regulating properties and is inherently more flame-resistant than many synthetic fibers, allowing some manufacturers to avoid adding chemical flame retardants to meet safety standards. That said, true wool-blend strollers are less common than polyester, and you’ll want to check whether manufacturers treat wool in other ways.

Responsibly made recycled fabrics
Many strollers use polyester or nylon — because these materials are durable and easy to clean — but you can find versions made from recycled PET or other recycled inputs. These don’t automatically guarantee “non-toxic,” but some brands are certified (e.g., OEKO-TEX or GREENGUARD) or make explicit claims to be free of PFAS and flame retardants to minimize harmful chemical treatments.

A few nuances worth noting:

 • “Non-toxic” doesn’t have a single legal definition for strollers — no stroller can realistically be 100% free of all synthetics and chemicals, and there’s no mandatory safety test for fabrics the way there is for car seats or cribs.
 • Certifications like GREENGUARD Gold focus on emissions, not every possible harmful ingredient — so they’re one sound signal, but not a guarantee of zero exposure.
 • Labels such as OEKO-TEX or GOTS can also be strong indicators of low chemical residue levels, especially for fabrics that come into contact with skin.

Our criteria:

There’s no shortage of stroller options, from long-standing baby brands to newer, sustainability-focused companies. To help simplify the decision, we’ve curated this list using the criteria below and regularly update it as better materials and innovations emerge.

 • NONTOXIC MATERIALS | We prioritize strollers made without harmful chemicals like flame retardants, PFAS, BPA, and phthalates. Many of our picks feature GREENGUARD GOLD certified fabrics, organic textiles, or naturally resilient materials like wool.
 • DESIGN, SAFETY & FUNCTIONALITY | Every stroller we recommend meets essential safety standards while offering thoughtful, practical design — from ergonomic seating to sturdy construction that lasts through multiple stages (and siblings).
 • SUSTAINABILITY & VALUE | Our selections span a range of price points, but each one delivers strong value through durability, responsible sourcing, and safer materials. Investing in a well-made, non-toxic stroller isn’t just a purchase — it’s a long-term investment in your family’s health and a more sustainable future.

Looking for more nontoxic baby gear? Check out our guide to nontoxic carseats and our Nuna stroller review.

1. Nuna

GOTS certified
Greenguard certified
Natural materials
Third party tested
Warranty offered

Best For | Everyday strollers, travel systems, and parents who want premium design with safer materials

Features We Love | Lightweight designs, UPF 50+ canopies, single-hand fold, smooth suspension, near-flat recline options, generous storage baskets, 360 swivel wheels
Prices Starting At | $425+

Nuna is a go-to brand for parents seeking a high-quality, non-toxic stroller built for daily use. It’s the brand our editors love and trust most (read our Nuna review here) because the carseats and strollers are thoughtfully designed for real life — they are easy to fold, smooth to push, and comfortable for even the most wiggly baby. The SWIV, for example, has a lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced aluminum frame, one-touch braking for safety, and a button-activated 360° rotation on all 4 wheels, enabling side-to-side motion and instant pivot navigation. Fancy, no!?

Many Nuna strollers are GREENGUARD Gold Certified, meaning they meet strict standards for low chemical emissions. This matters for strollers, where babies are in close contact with the seat fabric and canopy. Some models, like the Nuna TRIV next, also include a removable insert made with Merino wool and TENCEL™ lyocell, which are naturally breathable and gentle on baby’s skin.

Functionally, Nuna strollers are both comfortable and convenient. The TRVL is especially popular for travel thanks to the lightweight frame and self-folding design (our editors have taken them on flights with ease), while the MIXX next works well as an everyday stroller with its smooth suspension, supportive recline, and spacious storage basket.

If you’re searching for a stroller that’s easy to use, comfortable for your baby, and made with safer materials, Nuna is a reliable, well-designed option that holds up to everyday life.

UPPAbaby is a brand we love and trust for baby gear that is solid, intuitive, and built to last. The strollers are designed for daily use — they are easy to steer, steady on uneven sidewalks, and spacious enough to carry everything that somehow comes along for every outing.

On the materials side, many UPPAbaby strollers are GREENGUARD Gold Certified, meeting the strict standards for low chemical emissions. The brand also states that its products meet required flammability standards without using certain brominated or chlorinated flame-retardant chemicals, which is an important consideration for fabric safety.

What really sets UPPAbaby apart, though, is the flexibility. Models like the Vista V3 are designed to adapt as your family grows, with options to move from a single stroller to configurations that accommodate multiple children (a huge sustainability win since you don’t need to get a new stroller). Reversible seats, large UPF 50+ canopies, and cushioned, adjustable seating help keep babies comfortable from newborn days through toddlerhood.

3. Bumbleride

Natural materials
OEKO-TEX® certified
Recycled materials

Bumbleride is ideal for highly active parents or for those who live in rural areas. The stroller is designed for uneven sidewalks, dirt paths, and everywhere in between. The air-filled tires and full suspension make a noticeable difference on rougher terrain and deliver durability without compromising comfort.

Materials are where Bumbleride really stands apart, though. All stroller fabrics and padding are OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Class I certified, meaning they’re tested for harmful substances and considered safe for direct contact with babies. The brand also states its strollers are made without common chemical additives parents often try to avoid, including flame retardants and PFAS. Fabrics are produced from 100% recycled plastic bottles, balancing durability with a lower environmental footprint.

Moreover, these stroller seats are padded and supportive, and many models recline or lie flat for newborn use. The canopies offer ample coverage for longer outings, and the double stroller is perfect for twins or siblings.

4. Zoe

The lineup includes travel-friendly strollers and modular choices to grow with your family. As for features, it has all the bells and whistles, including UPF 50+ canopies, breathable seat fabrics, and thoughtfully engineered frames that balance comfort for baby with convenience for parents. 5. Guava Roam

Greenguard certified
Natural materials
Small business
Warranty offered

Best For | Active parents who want one stroller that can handle daily walks and real runs
Nontoxic Materials | GREENGUARD Gold–certified fabrics; free from added flame retardants, PFAS, and PVC
Features | Remote-locking front wheel, airless all-terrain tires, independent suspension, adjustable handlebar, compact one-hand fold that stands upright, seat supports kids up to 60 lbs
Prices Starting At | $650

The Guava Roam is built like a jogging stroller but without the clunky, oversized feel that usually comes with one. We appreciate that we can use it for real runs or everyday walks and errands without feeling like we’re pushing a tank. One of the best features is the remote-locking front wheel, which lets you switch from stroll mode to run mode right from the handlebars. Add in airless tires (no flats, ever) and independent suspension, and you get a ride that’s steady and comfortable even when the terrain isn’t.

And for a jogger, it’s surprisingly compact. It folds down smaller than most and stands on its own, making it much easier to get in and out of the car. The seat reclines for on-the-go naps, supports children up to 60 pounds, and is suitable from around six months — or from birth with a car seat adapter. Material-wise, the Roam is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, while the seat fabrics and sunshade are polyester. Read our editor’s review of the Guava pack-n-play to learn more about why we love this brand so much.

Note: earlier Roam models made between 2020 and 2021 were recalled due to a brake issue. Newer models aren’t affected, but it’s worth double-checking if you’re buying secondhand.

7 Nontoxic Diaper Subscriptions – 2026 Editor Review https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/eco-friendly-diaper-subscription/ https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/eco-friendly-diaper-subscription/#respond Wed, 14 Jan 2026 00:55:06 +0000 https://www.thegoodtrade.com/eco-friendly-diaper-subscription/ We’ve found five brands offering diaper deliveries right to you. They’re leveraging sustainable materials, bulk ordering for diapers and wipes, and convenient scheduling.

The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here.

I tested dozens of nontoxic diapers to identify the best options for parents—these are my top picks for materials, softness, absorbency, and price.

When I learned we were pregnant and began planning our baby registry, there was one product I knew I wouldn’t compromise on. While I try to lean organic and sustainable whenever I can, it becomes a non-negotiable when it’s something touching my baby’s skin — and diapers are right at the top of that list. Since having our daughter last summer, I’ve been on a mission to find the best non-toxic diaper, and it’s been surprising how much variation there is in diaper brands.

My musts are simple but firm: it has to be truly absorbent — we change her often and at the first sign of a wet diaper, but it has to hold the pee. It also needs to be soft yet structured enough to fit well and move with her as she learns to crawl around. It needs to be made from safe, healthy materials and comfortable enough for all-day wear. Sustainability matters too — fewer harsh chemicals, more thoughtful materials — without veering into something wildly inaccessible price-wise. Bonus points for easy availability and subscription options, because running out of diapers is a stress I never want to experience.

Why should parents care about nontoxic diapers?

Non-toxic diapers matter because they come into contact with some of the body’s most sensitive skin. Diaper dermatitis (diaper rash) is extremely common and caused by moisture, friction, and prolonged contact with urine and stool (which can raise skin pH and activate enzymes that weaken the skin barrier). Choosing nontoxic diapers to minimize irritants — e.g., fragrance-free, dye-free, and designed to keep moisture away from the skin — can be a practical way for parents to support their baby’s skin barrier, especially for babies who are rash-prone or already have sensitive skin.

Research has shown that some disposable diapers can contain or release trace chemicals. For example, studies have detected volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in diapers, and broader scientific reviews note that prolonged skin contact can be a potential exposure pathway for infants. That doesn’t mean diapers are inherently dangerous; it’s a moment to pause and be thoughtful when choosing which diapers to put your baby in.

At the same time, not every scary headline holds up when you look at the actual data. Dioxins often come up in conversations about diaper bleaching, but a 2024 review in Science of the Total Environment (the same review noted above) examined chemicals detected in disposable diapers, including dioxins, and found that estimated infant exposure under typical use is very low and generally considered acceptable from a risk perspective. Updated exposure models show these levels are minimal compared with other everyday sources, such as diet. All that to say: intentionality matters. That’s why we trust brands that use fewer known skin irritants (like fragrances and dyes), prioritize transparency, and create products that align with our values — without relying on fear-mongering to make their point.

How I think about choosing nontoxic diapers

For me, choosing a cleaner diaper means minimizing unnecessary ingredients and prioritizing brands that are transparent about how their products are made. Fragrance is a big one. Fragrance is a known trigger for contact dermatitis across many product categories, and organizations like the Environmental Working Group consistently flag it as something to avoid in products that sit on skin for long periods. The same goes for lotions added to diapers, which may sound nice but aren’t necessary for function and can irritate sensitive skin.

I also look for clarity around how materials are processed. Terms like totally chlorine-free (TCF) or chlorine-free processing matter to some parents because chlorine bleaching can produce trace byproducts. While the science here is nuanced, transparency is the bigger signal. Brands that explain why they make certain choices tend to be the ones doing the work.

That said, performance matters. A diaper that leaks regularly, especially overnight, can lead to more frequent changes, disrupted sleep, and increased irritation. The best diaper is the one you trust enough to use consistently. Clean ingredients don’t mean much if you’re changing pajamas at 3 a.m.

Certifications that actually mean something

One of the most meaningful labels in this space is EWG Verified, which indicates that a product meets the Environmental Working Group’s strict criteria for ingredient safety and transparency. EWG Verified diapers are screened against chemicals of concern, including parabens, phthalates, certain preservatives, fragrances, and contaminants. You can read more about their standards directly on the EWG website.

Many of the brands below are also OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. This certification applies to textiles and indicates that materials have been tested for harmful substances, with a restricted substances list that now includes over 1,000 chemicals.

For diapers made with high wood pulp content, FSC certification is also worth noting. The Forest Stewardship Council certifies pulp sourced from responsibly managed forests, addressing the environmental side of raw material sourcing.

Are diapers an environmental problem?

This is the part of diapering no one really wants to dwell on, but it’s important. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, disposable diapers account for millions of tons of waste each year in the United States, and the vast majority end up in landfills. There is currently very little large-scale recycling or composting of disposable diapers through municipal systems.

That doesn’t mean the burden falls solely on parents. Diaper waste is a systems problem. Researchers have been studying diaper life cycles for years, exploring how material choices, manufacturing processes, and disposal models could reduce environmental impact over time. Still, there are realistic steps families can take. Using the right size to prevent leaks, avoiding unnecessary changes, and choosing brands that minimize excess materials can all help. Some subscription brands are also experimenting with diaper take-back and industrial composting programs that collect used diapers and process them at facilities designed to handle material waste. These programs aren’t perfect and aren’t accessible everywhere, but they represent an important shift toward addressing what happens after the diaper comes off.

While the most sustainable option is likely cloth diapers and early potty training, these options can be inaccessible to parents, especially if you work, use day care, or don’t have the time/resources to wash multiple diapers a day. These are our favorite cloth diaper brands if you’d prefer to go that route.

Our criteria & methodology

For this diaper review, we selected nine brands that highlight non-toxic, organic, and/or natural materials in their diapers. All brands included sent diapers directly for testing, except Huggies, which we purchased ourselves to ensure it was evaluated under the same conditions.

My daughter has worn every diaper in this roundup, so each review reflects real-life experience, not just lab-style testing. To support the visuals, I also used water mixed with yellow food coloring to demonstrate absorbency in a size 2 diaper, paying close attention to how quickly liquid was absorbed and whether any leakage occurred (because if they can’t hold the pee, it’s a no from me). I also paid close attention to softness, structure, comfort, sustainability claims, and overall value, so you can get a clear sense of which diapers actually live up to the hype in real life.

A glass measuring cup with yellow liquid sits on a white surface next to a small plastic bottle with a yellow cap.
To test diaper absorbency, we used water and yellow food coloring.

We regularly update this list with emerging favorites that meet our nontoxic and sustainable criteria. And if you’re looking for more nontoxic baby essentials, here’s our guide to organic onesies and organic crib mattresses.

Best Overall | Softest Diapers | Best For Preemie Diapers | Best Overnight Diapers

1. Kudos Diapers

Certifications | OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, DermaTest, FSC Certified
Diaper materials | 100% U.S.-sourced cotton, latex-free spandex, sustainably harvested wood pulp, polyethylene with biodegradability enhancer, polyester
Absorption level | Heavy (20 oz of liquid with no leaks)
Size range | Size 1 (7-12 lbs) to size 6 (35+ lbs)
Starting at | $0.40 per diaper

Kudos is my favorite nontoxic diaper brand, and here’s why. First and foremost, it’s the only diaper we’ve been able to use overnight without leaks. My daughter now sleeps on her tummy, which means all the pee pools at the front of her diaper, yet Kudos keeps her dry for a solid 12 hours. I also love how Kudos diapers feel. They run larger than many other brands while still being soft, squishy, and structured. (It’s no wonder the design is near perfect; they were crafted by former MIT engineers.)

Performance aside, the materials are what really seal the deal for me. Kudos diapers include two absorbent layers instead of one, which is part of why they perform so well overnight. The part that touches skin is 100% USA-grown cotton (many other brands use plastic for the liner), and they are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. The diapers are also free of fragrances, lotions, latex, and chlorine bleaching. And the subscription options are so good. Having diapers arrive on a regular schedule has genuinely saved me from so many last-minute store runs. While a bit more expensive than Pampers or Huggies, they are not so expensive that they feel out of reach, especially given their absorbency and safe materials.

Conclusion | Kudos is the non-toxic diaper brand we reach for most and the one I recommend to all of my parent friends. They’re soft, incredibly absorbent, and backed by some of the best non-toxic and organic certifications on the market.

2. HealthyBaby

Certifications | EWG VERIFIED®, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, FSC Certified, dermatologist tested, microbiome-friendly
Diaper materials | Plant-based materials with a 15% organic cotton outer cover, Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) wood pulp core, sodium polyacrylate absorbent core, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester, elastic
Absorption level | Medium (16 oz of liquid with no leaks)
Size range | Newborn (<10 lbs) to Size 6/7 (baby through toddler)
Starting at | $0.40+ per diaper

HealthyBaby is a diaper brand rooted in a child-development mindset and the belief that everyday exposures matter, especially in those earliest stages, when a baby’s brain and body are still developing. That philosophy is most clearly reflected in their headline credential: HealthyBaby’s diaper is the first to earn EWG VERIFIED® status, which sets an incredibly high bar for non-toxic materials selected with developmental health in mind.

What stands out to me about HealthyBaby isn’t a trend or a flashy claim, but the way the brand connects diaper design to a broader conversation about safety standards for our children. The company treats diapers less like a disposable commodity and more like an intentional part of parenting and creating a healthier home — which I love.

As for real-life use, these diapers are refreshingly no-fuss. They’re simple and soft. They’re also notably compact, making them great for on-the-go days or travel (I can fit 5 to 6 in my ring bag). They’re also shockingly absorbent — don’t let the thinness fool you. I’ve yet to experience a leak with my daughter, and they passed our water test with flying colors. But honestly, even if we did have the occasional leak, HealthyBaby’s commitment to truly safe, non-toxic materials would still be enough to keep me reaching for them.

Conclusion | HealthyBaby is the first EWG-Verified diaper and features some of the safest and softest materials among diaper brands. Its thinner design makes it perfect for on-the-go without compromising on softness or absorbency.

3. Coterie

Certifications | OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic
Diaper materials | Sodium polyacrylate (SAP) and Totally Chlorine Free (TCF) wood pulp from sustainably managed forests, polypropylene, polyester, and polyethylene, elastic, 25% plant-based material
Absorption level | Medium (16 oz of liquid with no leaks)
Size range | Newborn (<10 lbs) to size 7 (41+ lbs)
Starting at | Premium brand (prices are a bit different with Coterie because they only use subscription models and optimize the boxes according to the average number of changes babies need as they grow)

Coterie was one of those brands I added to my registry on instinct. It feels indulgent and elevated, and I was genuinely curious if it would live up to the hype. After trying a few packs, I can honestly say the buzz is warranted. The brand was inspired by Japanese diapers, which are widely known for their softness and absorbency, and that influence really shows. Each diaper is made with premium materials that are independently third-party tested, dermatologist-tested, and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning they’re screened for more than 1,000 potentially harmful substances. They’re also clinically tested for hypoallergenicity, which makes them a reassuring option for babies with sensitive or eczema-prone skin.

While I don’t reach for Coterie every single day because of the cost, I love them for when I want my daughter to feel a bit extra and fancy (the softness makes them feel so luxurious!). And they are surprisingly absorbent for how delicate they appear. The brand states that they are designed for sleep, and we’ve never experienced any leaks with them. They also passed our “pee test” below with 16 oz of liquid.

Conclusion | Coterie is the non-toxic diaper brand we love for its softness and simplicity. They are pricier and considered a premium diaper, which is why we prefer them for gifting or when we want our baby to feel a bit “extra.”

4. Hello Bello

Certifications | Hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested
Diaper materials | Plant-based materials, sustainably sourced wood pulp core, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester, elastic
Absorption level | Medium (16 oz of liquid with no leaks)
Size range | Newborn (<10 lbs) to size 6 (35+ lbs)
Starting at | $0.24 per diaper (prices vary depending on pack count, size, and subscription models)

I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect to fall in love with Hello Bello (celebrity-founded brands can be a little hit or miss). But I’ve been genuinely surprised by how reliable these diapers are. They’re not the softest or most premium-feeling option in this roundup, but they do their job well. This is the brand we keep our daughter in most often during the day, second only to Kudos, especially when we’re doing more frequent changes and don’t need heavy overnight absorbency. The only reason they are not higher on the list is due to a lack of certifications.

One thing I really love about Hello Bello is how compact they are. I can easily stuff a few into my purse, which makes them especially great for travel (especially planes). And, of course, the materials are safe and sustainable. Hello Bello diapers are formulated without fragrances, lotions, phthalates, latex, or chlorine processing, and they’re marketed as hypoallergenic and dermatologist-friendly (though it’s worth noting that independent certifications like OEKO-TEX® aren’t prominently listed on their product page).

I also really appreciate the brand’s ethos. Hello Bello’s “Premium for All” philosophy — not premium for some, not premium only for those who can afford it, but premium for everyone — is evident in both pricing and accessibility. Beyond that, the company is making thoughtful choices behind the scenes: the diapers are produced using energy-efficient machines, and the factory is zero-waste and powered by 100% renewable energy. Add in the cute prints and the fact that their packaging is often designed to be upcycled into crafts — something they share ideas for on Instagram — and Hello Bello just makes sense as a top pick for parents.

Conclusion | Hello Bello is like the person you decide to marry — cute, dependable, thoughtful, and easy to love. While the brand isn’t over-the-top with bells and whistles, it excels when it matters most.

5. DYPER

Certifications | B Corp, FSC Certified, hypoallergenic, Dermatest® 5-star, REDYPER™ composting program
Diaper materials | Plant-based materials with a focus on compostability: sustainably sourced wood pulp core, sodium polyacrylate absorbent core, polypropylene, polyethylene, elastic
Absorption level | Light to medium (leaked after 12 oz of liquid)
Size range | Newborn (<10 lbs) to size 6 (35+ lbs)
Starting at | $0.35+ per diaper (prices vary by subscription plan, size, and number of diapers in monthly box)

DYPER is the brand I reach for when I want my diapering choices to align more closely with my environmental values — without totally sacrificing performance. In many ways, it feels like a Coterie dupe, and I mean that as a compliment. They share the same clean, minimalist aesthetic and reliable construction, but with a stronger emphasis on sustainability. DYPER diapers are notably thinner and less soft, but they are made with responsibly sourced, plant-based materials, including bamboo and FSC-certified wood pulp, and are free of chlorine processing, fragrances, and other common irritants. They’re also independently tested and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, with Dermatest certification and a five-star rating for skin compatibility after long-term contact testing.

What really makes DYPER stand out to me is the REDYPER program, because it tackles the part of diapering most brands don’t deal with: where diapers end up once you’re done with them. With DYPER, you can send used diapers back in special bags to industrial composting facilities that are equipped to handle materials that home compost bins can’t. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s a tangible step in the right direction, which I appreciate.

As for my experience using DYPER with my daughter, they perform just fine. I wouldn’t rave to a friend about the performance (though I would share the composting aspect), but they work and are non-toxic, which is what matters. It’s worth noting that in our liquid test, leakage started after about 12 oz of water, so they’re not the most absorbent option in this roundup. That said, they’ve worked well during the day and for regular changes.

Conclusion | DYPER stands out as the most impressive brand on this list for sustainability (learn more about the REDYPER program and composting efforts here). While they don’t perform quite as strongly as some of the other diapers here, they’re still a solid option — especially for parents who want their diapering choices to reflect their environmental values.

6. Honest Baby

Certifications | OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, hypoallergenic, dermatologically tested
Diaper materials | Sodium polyacrylate, wood pulp sourced from sustainable forests, polypropylene & polyethylene film and non-woven materials, elastics
Absorption level | Light to medium (leaked after 8 oz of liquid)
Size range | Newborn (<10 lbs) to Size 7 (41+ lbs)
Starting at | $.035+ per diaper

I really, really, really wanted to love Honest. Before becoming a parent, it was one of those brands I saw everywhere, and I love how accessible it is — you can find Honest diapers at most box stores, and they’re part of a larger lineup of baby products I genuinely use and enjoy (I recently bought their baby soap and lotion for travel). So I came into this with high hopes.

Honest diapers are designed with gentler everyday materials compared with many mainstream options, and the brand avoids chlorine processing, fragrances, lotions, parabens, phthalates, and latex. But the diapers themselves have been a miss for me on too many days to rank higher on this list. While the prints are undeniably cute and the materials are thoughtfully chosen, Honest is the only brand I’ve experienced a blowout with, and in our leak test, they started leaking after just 8 oz of liquid. That said, Honest is a good backup brand and one I’ll absolutely reach for if I need to buy diapers from a box store in a pinch. The accessibility, non-toxic materials, and the brand’s range of other baby essentials are all big positives for me.

Conclusion | Honest is a brand I trust and reach for when convenience matters, but for us, the diapers are a bit too prone to leakage and work best as a reliable backup rather than a daily, do-it-all diaper.

7. Huggies

Certifications | Hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested
Diaper materials | Sodium polyacrylate and wood pulp, elastic-free
Absorption level | Heavy (20 oz of liquid with no leaks)
Size range | Newborn (<10 lbs) to Size 6 (35+ lbs)
Starting at | $0.25+ per diaper (varies widely by retailer, pack count, and sales)

Huggies has been a household name for decades, and while the brand doesn’t market itself as eco-luxury, it has evolved alongside modern safety expectations. When I told my brother-in-law we’d registered for Coterie, he laughed and said, “Oh, we use a luxury brand too. Hoo-geys.” It took me a second to realize he meant Huggies, and honestly… fair.

The Skin Essentials diapers are hypoallergenic and free of fragrances, lotions, latex, parabens, elemental chlorine bleaching, petrolatum, and lanolin. They go through extensive safety and quality testing, and in our absorbency test, they handled 20 oz of liquid like it was nothing. While Huggies may not lead with sustainability or premium materials, when it comes to straightforward reliability at an accessible price point, the brand absolutely earns its place. They are also a founding sponsor of the National Diaper Bank Network and donate millions of diapers each year to support families across the U.S.

Conclusion | Huggies Skin Essentials is a dependable, widely accessible diaper that delivers strong absorbency and affordability — and plays a meaningful role in supporting families who need it most.

7 Pregnancy-Safe Sleep Aids For Rest In Every Trimester https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/pregnancy-safe-sleep-aids/ https://www.thegoodtrade.com/features/pregnancy-safe-sleep-aids/#respond Thu, 08 Jan 2026 17:56:17 +0000 https://www.thegoodtrade.com/?p=54065 We’ve tested and researched the top clean supplement brands — these are our favorite sleep aids with safe, gentle formulations to help you get Zzzs.

The post 7 Pregnancy-Safe Sleep Aids For Rest In Every Trimester appeared first on The Good Trade.

]]>
We’ve personally tested and researched the top clean supplement brands for pregnant folks. These are our favorite sleep aids with safe, gentle formulations to help you get the Zzzs you need.

You can expect sleepless nights to come along with a newborn — the crying, the fussiness, the waking to feed — but what about before the baby comes? Insomnia is a common pregnancy symptom, exacerbated by aches, heartburn, and the more frequent urge to pee. Up to 80% of pregnant people report some sort of insomnia at some time during pregnancy.

While it might be good practice for having an infant around, sleeplessness can cause complications. Gestational diabetes, longer labor, preeclampsia (high blood pressure), anxiety, and depression can all worsen with a lack of quality sleep.

But fear not — sometimes lifestyle changes are all you need to combat insomnia, like avoiding electronic screens before bed or writing down the next day’s to-do list before the lights go off. And when you need a little extra help, we’re a big fan of sleep-supporting supplements like magnesium.

What should you look for in a pregnancy-safe sleep aid?

While melatonin is a safe, popular supplement for supporting sleep, little is known about its effects on pregnancy and lactation because of a lack of randomized, controlled studies. GABA is another common one pregnant people should avoid. But one supplement that’s been proven safe and effective at supporting relaxation and sleep? Magnesium — maybe this is one of the reasons it’s been getting so much air time in the wellness space lately.

Magnesium supports tons of essential bodily functions, including digestion, muscle recovery, bone health, circulatory health, blood sugar levels, and anxiety levels. It also has promising results in sleep studies, showing positive associations with increased sleep quality, increased sleep time, and decreased sleep onset latency.

According to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, adults should intake between 300mg and 420mg of magnesium daily — and while foods like seeds, nuts, greens, and beans have naturally occurring magnesium, it’s hard to get enough of the mineral from your diet alone.

So below, you’ll find a roundup of magnesium supplements for sleep, all of which are formulated with pregnancy- and lactation-safe ingredients — and without additions like melatonin or GABA.

Our criteria:

The editors (and moms!) on our team have researched and personally tried the top clean supplement brands, including prenatals and other pregnancy-safe options. For this guide, we’ve compiled melatonin-free sleep aids for pregnant folks that are safe, made with high-quality ingredients, and come from trusted brands. We’ve also vetted customer reviews to make sure these options are generally tolerated during pregnancy. We update this list regularly with our emerging favorites that meet the following criteria:

 • HIGH-QUALITY INGREDIENTS | The brands below all use high-quality magnesium without any unnecessary fillers. Most use highly bioavailable forms of magnesium (or multiple forms) from natural sources — and they’re vegetarian, vegan, non-GMO, and mostly sugar-free.
 • TRUSTED BRANDS | The brands below are highly reputable, leverage clinical research to inform their practices, and test formulas via third parties for efficacy and safety.
 • GI COMFORT | We’ve included magnesium citrate options which might cause fewer gastro issues, if that’s a concern for you.

Form | Powder
Price | $50/30 days ($1.67/day)

Needed is closing nutritional gaps for fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum with radically better supplements backed by 6,000+ women’s health practitioners. All of their supplements are non-GMO and third-party tested for heavy metals. Their pregnancy-safe, melatonin-free Sleep + Relaxation Support powder is a must-have. It contains three forms of magnesium, L-theanine, L-glycine, and chamomile to support optimal sleep quality (both how long it takes you to fall asleep and staying asleep!), relaxation, and overall cognitive health. The L-theanine helps reduce stress and increase sleep duration — just check with your doctor before consuming L-theanine while pregnant because of limited research on the compound. Plus, it tastes like a lightly sweet and delicious chamomile tea. The brand recommends mixing a serving into 1–2 cups of water (hot, cold, or room temp), and you’re on your way to better sleep.

Customer Review | “Pregnancy has brought on insomnia where I’m up for 4-5 hours a night! Since starting the Needed Sleep + Relaxation Support I’m sleeping so much better! Still waking to pee, but not losing precious hours of rest.” – Ashley G. (Read more reviews.)

Moon Juice has been a TGT fave for years — and our editor wrote a detailed first-hand review of their best-selling Magnesi-Om supplement earlier this year. While the brand recently released a new Sleepy Magnesi-Om supplement that also incorporates melatonin for even deeper sleep, those looking to avoid the hormone can stick with the original powder, which has a total of 309 mg of magnesium in three different bioavailable forms. It also has L-theanine to promote calmness and relaxation, and it comes in four different flavors — berry, blue lemon, green grape, and guava. Like all Moon Juice products, it’s made with 100% traceable ingredients and is third-party tested. It comes in an unflavored option, too, along with two packaging options — glass bottles or packets that are easy to travel with.

Customer Review | “It is so easy to take and it tastes great! I hate swallowing pills, so this was an easy option. It comes in a jar at first then your refills come in this pouch. It aids in regularity and sleep. I take it every night after dinner.” – Sharon A. (Read more reviews.)

Best For | Magnesium glycinate
Ingredients | Magnesium, monk fruit concentrate
Form | Powder
Price | $48/60 days ($0.80/day)

While Thorne makes a few different supplements that support sleep, their magnesium glycinate is the one that’s pregnancy-safe. Known for creating clinically backed supplements geared toward athletes, Thorne is all about empowering you to optimize your health. According to reviewers, their magnesium powder helps you reduce muscle soreness after a workout since it encourages better sleep. The powder contains 200mg of the glycinate form of magnesium that has two glycine molecules attached, giving it superior absorption qualities so you get all those good magnesium benefits like muscle relaxation and supported circulatory functions. The powder is lightly sweetened with monk fruit concentrate, and of all the supplements on this list, it comes in one of the largest containers.

Customer Review | “Love this supplement! My husband and I started taking it 2 months ago. We take it right before bed, get the best sleep, and it helps with muscle recovery after a good workout.” – Alexi B. (Read more reviews.)

Best For | Gummies
Ingredients | Magnesium citrate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium glycinate
Form | Gummy, powder
Price | Starting at $22/56 days ($0.39/day)

Natural Vitality’s been making mood-boosting supplements for 40 years, so you can rest assured they’re a trusted name in the space. While not all of their sleep supplements are pregnancy-safe, many of them are — and they have a huge lineup to begin with. They carry both powder and gummy forms of magnesium, both of which come in fun flavors like orange, cherry, and raspberry lemon. They have multiple different forms of magnesium, too, depending on what works best for you. Their standard products are made with basic magnesium carbonate, while they also carry supplements with magnesium citrate (which is easily absorbed and helps you raise your overall magnesium levels) and magnesium glycinate (which helps improve sleep and reduce anxiety). They make a few blends, too, like a powder with both magnesium and calcium, and options that pregnant folks might want to avoid, like those with melatonin, GABA, or phosphatidylserine.

Customer Review | “This product is my ultimate go-to! I have tried the powder in every flavor and they’re all very pleasant. Great for when I’m sore after workouts. I also enjoy a warm cup for relaxing after a long day at the office. Definitely recommend this product to friends and customers to aid in sleep and get more of that needed magnesium into the body.” – Mackenzie M. (Read more reviews.)

Customer Review | “With my evening meal, I take Magnesium Citrate from Pure Encapsulations. 7. Wooden Spoon Herbs

Gluten free
Science backed
USDA organic
Vegan
Woman owned

Best For | Electrolytes for hydration
Ingredients | Magnesium citrate, monk fruit extract, spirulina
Form | Powder
Price | Starting at $26/30 days ($0.87/day)

Known for their medicinal herb-forward supplements (and fantastic branding, might we add), Wooden Spoon Herbs was concocted by herbalist Lauren Haynes in her Tennessee kitchen. Today, they make tons of tinctures, capsules, and powers for various concerns like stress, immunity, gut health, and, you guessed it, sleep. Their Magic Magnesium powder has 200mg of magnesium citrate per serving, so while it helps support healthy sleep, it also boosts your overall magnesium levels to support other functions like gut health and all-day energy levels. Its spirulina gives it a boost of electrolytes for hydration, while its lemon powder and monk fruit extract give it a lightly sweet citrusy flavor. Note that the powder also has organic gum arabic which helps it emulsify into drinks — which is a perfectly safe ingredient, but you should check with your doc if you’re pregnant just in case, since little is known about its pregnancy or breastfeeding safety.

Customer Review | “I love the Magic Magnesium! I’ve made it part of my nightly routine, and I’ve been falling asleep easier and feeling more well rested since taking it.” – Mary P. (Read more reviews.)

Our team has tested and researched dozens of sleep aids for the best adults & kids supplements made with clean ingredients — these are our top picks.

Tossing and turning. Staring at the ceiling. Willing yourself to fall—and stay—asleep. We’ve been there. And it’s hard! The good news is, there are natural sleep aids we can turn to for a better night’s rest. Melatonin is particularly having a moment in the wide range of gummies, powders, and supplements on the market.

What is melatonin?

Melatonin is a hormone that your brain produces in response to darkness. The NIH explains that melatonin is a large part of getting a good night’s rest and regulating your circadian rhythm. It’s particularly useful for helping reduce jet lag symptoms, support delayed sleep-wake phase disorder, and certain sleep disorders in children. Suggested doses of melatonin are between 0.5 to 5mg, though we recommend talking to your doctor. And if you’re interested in what other roles melatonin plays in your health, check out our piece on the subject by a functional doctor.

If melatonin isn’t the right fit for you, there are alternatives that you can consider. Magnesium (found in leafy greens, nuts, and seeds) and L-theanine (found in green tea) can help your body relax, while many CBD oils offer stronger solutions and even sleep-specific formulations. Ingredients like chamomile, valerian root, and reishi are comforting natural remedies that promote relaxation too. We’ve listed some melatonin-free options to help support your sleep (and an option for kids).

These ten sleep aids and alternatives harness naturally occurring ingredients like melatonin, magnesium, and adaptogens to calm both body and mind before heading to bed. Each of these sleep aids are made with natural and organic ingredients, and are formulated without any unnecessary additives to help optimize our health.

Pair these sleep aids with a solid bedtime routine (and maybe a new mattress, organic bedding and a silky sleep mask), and you’ll get the rest you need in no time.

The post 9 Best Probiotics For Kids In 2026 (Reviewed) appeared first on The Good Trade.

]]>
The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here.

I tested the best pre- and probiotics for kids with my daughter. These are our picks that are gentle yet effective, use quality ingredients, and are easy for parents to get their kids to take.

At this point, you probably know all about the health benefits of probiotics. Naturally occurring in fermented foods like yogurt, sauerkraut, miso, pickles, and sourdough bread, probiotics refer to the many live bacteria and yeasts that live in our body and help keep us healthy — especially our gut microbiome. Prebiotics are high-fiber compounds that feed these bacteria and keep the microflora happy.

If you’re a parent, you may have even heard about pre- and probiotics for kids. The human body contains roughly 38 trillion bacteria. Wild, I know, but these microorganisms make up the ecology of our body, helping us digest food and protect against infection. Much of this ecosystem is already in place in infancy!

We’ve done some digging on kids’ pro- and prebiotics, what the science says about how effective they really are, and tried some of the top brands on the market. 🤲

What do prebiotics and probiotics do for kids?

So, do you really need probiotic or prebiotic supplements for kids? In general, a healthy child with no GI issues probably doesn’t need a pre- or probiotic, especially if they’re eating a balanced diet with probiotic foods. (Good thing most kids love yogurt!)

But if your child struggles with any GI problems like constipation, IBS, or diarrhea, some doctors say that probiotics can help. Make sure you talk to your pediatrician when addressing any health concerns first especially if your child is taking any other medications or has a compromised immune system.

Research on kids’ probiotics is mixed, but promising — while some studies indicate they might be passed through the digestive tract with little absorption, others show they could be helpful for not only improving digestive issues but also reducing side effects from antibiotics, improving the immune system, and protecting against asthma and allergies.

By the way, prebiotics refers to certain fibers that help healthy bacteria grow, which is why they get along great with probiotics. Common prebiotic sources include garlic, onions, bananas, asparagus, and apples. It’s even found in breast milk and formula, too.

Why are clean, third-party tested supplements important?

Since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not approve supplements before they are sold, third-party testing provides independent verification that the product contains what its label claims and is free from harmful contaminants. Clean, third-party tested supplements are important for ensuring consumer safety, accuracy, and trust in a largely unregulated industry.

For kids especially, testing offers peace of mind that the products are free from harmful contaminants like heavy metals, pesticides, microbes, or banned substances.

How to choose the right probiotic for your kid:

First things first: talk to your pediatrician. There is no one-size-fits-all here because different probiotic strains address different health issues. It’s ideal to find products that list the specific strain (e.g., Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG), not just the species (Lactobacillus). Some of the most studied and beneficial strains for children include: Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, and Saccharomyces boulardii.

And don’t discount texture, taste, and convenince. Because let’s be real: The best pre- and probiotic for your child is the one they are going to actually take. Unless it tastes good (or is easy to disguise in their food!), most children are going to pass on something they consider yucky.

Everyone is different, but we tried to be comprehensive enough on the experience of taking each supplement so that you could get a clearer idea of which brand might be the best fit for your family’s lifestyle, preferences, and needs.

Our methodology and criteria:

Our team has tested and researched the top kids’ multivitamins and read thousands of customer reviews to find clean prebiotics and probiotics that support digestion and immune health, and are easy to take for the little ones in your life.

My daughter is not what I’d call a picky eater, but she certainly has her preferances — and she was definitive about the flavor and texture experiences with these products. Some were, in her words “Not for me,” while others were frankly difficult to get her to stop trying to eat as if they were candy. Because we were trying a large number of products, we had to be slow and deliberate in order to avoid wreaking havoc on her gut — so our reviews are centered primarily on taste and convenience. Our brand write ups also focus on:

 • CLEAN INGREDIENTS | We prioritized brands that use few or no artificial ingredients — so most of the supplements on this list have no artificial dyes, preservatives, or flavorings.
 • DIGESTION SUPPORT | The most important reason folks buy probiotics is digestion support. We parsed through reviews to make sure the prebiotics and probiotics featured below have all been shown to help kids’ digestion.
 • TASTE & EASY TO SWALLOW | Most kids are picky eaters, so every supplement on the list is kid-friendly — they’re all either a tasty gummy or chewable, or a flavorless powder you can mix into anything.

Read on for our top picks for prebiotics and probiotics for kids. While you’re at it, check out our editor’s review for this at-home gut test, our kids multivitamin guide, and our favorite probiotics for women, too.

1. MaryRuth’s

B corp
Budget friendly
Dairy free
Gluten free
Soy free
USDA organic
Vegan

Best For | Probiotic gummies
Features | Kid-formulated, pectin based
Price | $30/60-day supply

Designed for kids ages two and older, MaryRuth’s Organic kids probiotic gummies are made with 2.5 billion CFUs of the Bacillus subtilis DE111 strain, and pectin instead of gelatin so they’re vegan. The strawberry-flavored gummies are perfect for picky eaters, and are designed to support both gut and digestive health and immune function. They’re cost-effective, too — one bottle has a 60-day supply, so they only come out to $.50 per serving. Founded by nutritional consultant and culinary chef MaryRuth Ghiyam in 2013, the brand has some great certifications, too. They’re B Corp, non-GMO, and USDA Organic certified, and they carry over a hundred different types of vitamins and supplements.

Our Editor’s Review | “For taste, texture, and convenience, MaryRuth’s won us over handily. My daughter is a strawberry lover — both for flavor and aesthetics — so the strawberry-shaped gummies were a very easy sell right off the bat. She loves them so much, it’s actually hard to keep her from trying to sneak an extra! With a subscription, the cost is only $26.96 ever two months, which is a downright steal compared to some of the other brands on the market. I also like that it has minimal sugar and no artificial dyes, plus a very common and well-studied commercial strain of bacterium.”

2. Culturelle

Budget friendly
Dairy free
Soy free
Third party tested
Vegetarian

Best For | Wide variety of forms for all ages
Features | No sugar, no dyes
Price | $16+/30-day supply

The number one pediatrician-recommended probiotic brand, Culturelle makes all sorts of adult probiotics, too, so they’re experts in this. They carry two kinds of kids chewable probiotics — one is just a probiotic and goes for $21, while the other has probiotics along with other immune-boosting nutrients like vitamins C and D, plus zinc and elderberry, and goes for $24. Both supplements contain 5 billion colony-forming units (CFUs) of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, the most clinically studied probiotic strain, and they’re both free of sugar, dairy, eggs, peanuts, and dyes.

Our Editor’s Review | “Culturelle gets a big thumbs up for convenience as it’s available at a number of our local retail and grocery stores and is only $16 for a month’s supply, and just $19.50 for two! These are super soft, very easy-to-chew gummies and come in a yummy berry flavor that my daughter said was ‘Extra delicious.’ Culturelle has tons of third-party testing and pediatrician backing that makes them feel like a safe option for anyone with research-fatigue. Plus, you can choose from chewables, gummies, or dissolving powder, and even get a product that combines the probiotic with a multivitamin. We tried the gummy that included veggie fiber, but I think we’ll try the multivitamin next!”

3. Hiya

Dairy free
Doctor approved
Gluten free
Third party tested
Vegan

Best For | Sugar-free chewable
Features | No sugar, 10 billion live cultures, prebiotics
Price | $30/30-day supply

Hiya specializes in children’s supplements free of added sugars and dyes, and their kids probiotic is one of the top options in the market. Started by new dads who wanted to make a new kind of kids vitamin that wasn’t full of added sugars, Hiya started in the daily vitamin space before launching their probiotic. Their gluten free, dairy free, and vegan probiotic has 10 billion live cultures (wow!), along with prebiotic fibers, too, for optimal absorption. Its probiotic strains include Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Bacillus lactis, and they even come in a reusable glass container with cute stickers to decorate.

Our Editor’s Review | “My daughter is very picky about the chewable vitamins out there, rejecting anything that’s chalky in flavor or texture. But Hiya has always been a hit with her, and I think it’s because they taste more like a SweetTart than a vitamin-y Necco Wafer. The probiotics are more concentrated in color and taste than the multivitamins too, so that’s an easy sell! These are a great option for anyone trying to steer clear of gummies — the sugar-free formula doesn’t get stuck in between little teeth!”

4. Begin Health

American made
Doctor approved
Gluten free
Third party tested

Best For | Prebiotic powder with HMOs
Features | Powder form, prebiotics, human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs)
Price | $33/28-day supply

Begin Health’s “Daily Growing Up Prebiotics” helps toddlers and kids ages 1 year and up have easier, more regular potty times. The prebiotic packets are textureless and flavorless, mixing easily into water, juice, or yogurt to make nutrition convenient even for the pickiest eater. This kid’s formula is made with only two ingredients: Chicory root fiber and HMOs, a prebiotic that’s identical to the leading one found in human breast milk (!) to provide 3 grams of gut and immune-boosting fiber per serving. It’s even recommended by pediatricians, and is an ideal alternative to laxatives.

Our Editor’s Review | “The powder form was something I have to admit I was skeptical about, as my child seems to have a superhuman ability to sniff out even the slightest variations between seemingly identical brands of all her favorite foods and beverages. But Begin Health was easy to slip in to her drinks and even some foods without lighting up her little detective radar. Though I mixed it into water to show how well it actually dissolved, I served it to her most successfully in dairy products, where the taste went completely undetected. That’s a win in my book!”

5. Llama Naturals

American made
Budget friendly
Dairy free
Gluten free
Small business
Soy free
Subscriptions available
Third party tested
USDA organic
Vegan

Best For | Real fruit-based formula
Features | Made from organic fruit and vegetables, pre- and probiotic formula, vegan, sugar- and dye-free, allergen-free, third-party tested
Price | $30/30-day supply

Llama Naturals’ Kids Prebiotic & Probiotic is a unicorn gummy: Vegan, sugar-free, and made from real, organic fruits and vegetables contain two research-backed probiotics Bacillus Coagulans (LactoSpore) and Bacillus Subtilis DE111, plus the plant-derived prebiotic xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS). Safe for kids starting at two years of age — these gummies are a little dense but easy to chew, and flavored with fruit pectin instead of artificial sweeteners. The third-party tested formula clears it from heavy metals and contaminants, and verifies the potency of its ingredients to support kids’ digestion and immunity.

Our Editor’s Review | “The Llama Naturals Prebiotic & Probiotic real fruit gummies offer a gentle digestive support that is ideal for kids who aren’t struggling with constipation. My daughter is pretty regular, so I was interested in a supplement that might support her gut without hitting it too hard. While the flavor of these were not her favorite of the gummies because they aren’t quite as sweet, she liked that they were “the good kind of chewy,” and also looked liked llama poop, which was a source of endless giggles. I personally thought they tasted delicious, but full disclosure, I am a dried fruit fanatic, and these remind me of fruit leather.”

6. Wink Well

American made
Doctor approved
Vegan

Best For | Meltaway texture
Features | Sugar-free, prebiotics, pectin-based, adult-friendly
Price | $35/30-day supply

These supplements from Wink Well have a quick-melt texture that dissolves almost instantly, and they contain both prebiotics and probiotics — 2 billion CFUs of two different types of probiotics, Bifidobacterium Breve and Lactobacillus Plantarum, to promote both digestive and immune health. The supplement’s prebiotics, in the form of apple pectin, help with bowel movements and the efficacy of the probiotics, too. They can even be used by adults — adults can take up to two melts daily, while kids between 4 and 12 can take one daily and kids under 4 can take half of a melt.

Our Editor’s Review | “Wink Well’s quick melt pre- and probiotics gets the most points for being small and easy to take, dissolving very quickly after hitting the tongue. Plus, they’re both kid- and adult-friendly, which is ideal for larger families who might want to streamline their options. I thought the huckleberry flavor was a fun novelty, but my daughter took awhile to warm up to both the unfamiliar taste and texture. For a sugar-free option that can be used by all ages, from babies to adults, this is a versatile option!”

7. Nordic Naturals

Budget friendly
Dairy free
Gluten free
Vegan

Best For | Picky eaters
Features | No dye, prebiotics
Price | $20/60-day supply

Another 60-day supply for around $20, the Nordic Naturals gummies kids’ probiotics contain 1.5 billion CFUs of probiotics (the Bacillus coagulans strain, to be precise), along with prebiotic fiber. Designed for ages three and older, the gummies have a berry punch flavor that’s great for picky eaters. Note that the serving size is one gummy for three-year-olds, and two gummies for kids four and older. They’re certified vegan and have no artificial dyes or preservatives, and they even ship for free.

Our Editor’s Review | “The Nordic Naturals gummies look like a traditional gum drop, but don’t let it fool you! These cute gummies are packed with research-backed prebiotic fiber and probiotic strains that support kids’ gut health ages 3 and up. The berry flavor is very mild and the texture of these gummies are softer than a gum drop, but they do require more thorough chewing (and we did find bits still stuck in our daughter’s teeth hours later!). They have a little more sugar in (and on) them, which makes them friendlier to the really reluctant kids. They weren’t my daughter’s favorite flavor, but she ate them without too much trouble.”

8. Seed

Climate neutral
Dairy free
Eco friendly packaging
Gluten free
Plastic/Pfas free
Soy free
Vegan

Best For | Allergen-free formula
Features | Science-backed, gentle formula, sugar-free, vegan, free from over 20 allergens
Price |$40/30-day supply

Looking for an effective and well-studied probiotic supplement for your kid and teen? Seed’s PDS-08 Pediatric Daily Synbiotic is an impressive choice, with a clinically studied 2-in-1 powdered synbiotic, plus nine probiotic strains and a fiber-based prebiotic. The first month’s shipment is a “Welcome Kit” that includes a reusable jar containing that first month’s supply, reading materials, and a children’s book that introduces kids to the science behind the microbiome and good gut health. And for families dealing with extensive allergies, Seed is rigorously monitored for over 20 total allergens — including the 14 classes defined by the European Food and Safety Authority (EFSA). Their double-blind, 12-week trial also showed that their formula didn’t cause GI issues common to introducing probiotics, and that kids and teens generally tolerated the formula extremely well while having better BMs with more regularity.

Our Editor’s Review | “The Seed PDS-08 Pediatric Daily Synbiotic would probably be my top choice if I didn’t have to consult my little editor. The formula and scientific backing is hard to beat! We both loved the children’s book, too, and it started so many interesting conversations around the body and digestion. However, the first time we tried it mixed into one of her drinks was a disaster — it never fully dissolved, and she swore she could taste it. So it was hard to convince her to try it again! We had more luck mixing it in applesauce, yogurt, and oatmeal, but I wasn’t ever able to get it to totally disappear in a drink.”

9. Florastor Kids

Gluten free
Vegetarian

Best For | Convenient, budget-friendly powder
Features | Powder, no dyes, suitable for lactose intolerance
Price | $19/20-day supply

Another mixable powder, Florastor’s probiotic supplement for kids contains the strain Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 which they say is designed to both boost the gut’s good bacteria while flushing out the bad bacteria. The flavorless, easy-to-use powder can be mixed into any drink (as long as it’s not carbonated or very hot — over 122 degrees) or soft food like applesauce or yogurt. The packets of powder have no added dyes or preservatives, and you can find them at so many different retailers near you — Target, Walmart, CVS, Amazon, Walgreens, and Costco are just a few.

Our Editor’s Review | “Florastor Kids is a supplement that can be found virtually at any store, and so it gets points for convenience and availability. However, the gritty texture of this formula made it very tricky to add to anything without my daughter noticing. The only time it went unnoticed was in a strawberry or chocolate milk — something dairy with a powder already mixed in. Also it’s important to note that this formula contains corn, so anyone with allergies might want to steer clear!”

The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here.

I’ve personally tested and researched the top nontoxic prenatal vitamins — these are my favorites for clean, organic, gentle formulations with bioavailable ingredients. I’ve also included personal notes from my experience taking each brand.

In 2020, my husband and I decided to start trying for a baby. As a newbie to all things conception and cycle tracking (I was a former IUD girlie who had never even taken prenatals), it felt like stepping into a whole new world. I quickly found myself deep-diving into articles, podcasts, and books about fertility, nutrition, and all the ways to support a healthy pregnancy, trying to make sense of it all.

Little did we know, our journey to parenthood would be far from straightforward. It would span years of trying, fertility treatments, and eventually IVF — finally bringing us our daughter, who’s due next month. Through it all, I became an expert in my own body, as well as in the world of prenatal supplements. I learned about the importance of key ingredients like choline and CoQ10, and I became hyper-aware of fillers and additives that didn’t sit well with my body.

I tried dozens — literally dozens — of prenatal vitamins, each with its own pros and cons. Some were better for the preconception phase because they were more robust (albeit a bit harder to swallow), while others were more gentle on my stomach, especially helpful when dealing with morning sickness.

Below, I’ve shared my absolute favorite prenatal vitamins, along with why I trust and recommend these brands. I’ve also included some notes about what worked best for me during different stages — whether pre-pregnancy, during those early days of nausea, or while growing a healthy baby. And if you keep reading, we’ve consulted trusted experts to answer common questions like how to choose the best prenatal for you and how to confirm ingredient transparency — so you can feel confident in your choice, no matter where you are in your journey.

And oh, as a sidenote, men should be taking prenatals too! They’re equal parts of the equation. To learn more about why, listen to this episode of The FriedEggs Podcast (hosted by yours truly alongside one of my closest girlfriends) as we interview the founders of WeNatal about the importance of men’s fertility supplements.

How to choose the right prenatal for you:

Prenatal supplements can help bridge nutrition gaps and promote a healthy pregnancy, and they can also offer the energy pregnant people are desperate for! As the body becomes more exhausted and depleted of nutrients, prenatal vitamins can help rejuvenate and restore energy levels. Unfortunately, many prenatal vitamins on the market include subpar ingredients at suboptimal doses. Not to mention, many of them have a strong taste or are difficult to stomach, especially in the first trimester.

1. Confirm quality and transparency.

“Two major things to remember: Not all prenatals are created equally AND not all ingredients on the label are in clinically recommended dosages,” shares Ronit Menashe, cofounder of WeNatal. When choosing a prenatal vitamin, check for one that’s been third-party tested for purity and potency. Look for certifications like USP, NSF, or GMP, which show that the brand meets high standards for quality and production. Ensure the vitamins are free of common allergens like gluten, soy, and dairy and don’t contain artificial additives.

Consider a prenatal made from organic, whole food-based ingredients. These are often packed with natural vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that your body can absorb more easily than synthetic options. Plus, going organic can help reduce your exposure to synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals during pregnancy.

2. Consider a full dosage of essential nutrients.

When picking a prenatal vitamin, look for one that includes essential nutrients in forms your body can easily absorb and in effective amounts, such as vitamin D to reduce the risk of miscarriage, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, low birth weight, and preterm birth, as well as choline (one of the most essential vitamins for a baby’s brain), and antioxidants like vitamins A, C, E, selenium, manganese, and acetyl L-carnitine.

Some prenatal vitamins are more basic and may not have a complete nutrient profile, so it’s a good idea to chat with your doctor about whether you need a complete formulation or if a simpler version will work for you. The upside to a simpler option? It’s usually cheaper, requires fewer pills, and might cause less nausea.

3. Prioritize brands that are transparent about the bioavailability of ingredients.

Look for bioavailability in the prenatal formulation, as this can affect how well your body absorbs the nutrients (i.e., you can’t absorb them if you’re peeing them out!). “High-quality prenatals use more bioavailable forms of nutrients (which is more expensive), ensuring that your body can absorb and utilize the ingredients properly,” says Menashe.

4. Talk with your doctor about forms of folate.

Folate is a necessary ingredient in prenatal vitamins to help prevent miscarriages, spinal cord injuries, and neural tube defects in babies. We recommend talking with your doctor about your specific needs amidst the ongoing discussion about the MTHFR gene variant and folic acid (synthetic folate) vs the L-methyl folate form.

5. Decide if you want iron, omega-3s, and CoQ10 included.

“Iron is a big deal for moms-to-be (your needs double during pregnancy), yet many women’s prenatals don’t contain it,” according to Menashe. Iron is essential for preventing anemia during pregnancy, but some women may find that iron causes gastrointestinal discomfort. If you opt for a prenatal with iron, look for ferrous bisglycinate (also called ferrochel), a form that is generally gentler on the stomach. Ferrochel is also more effectively absorbed and does not deactivate or block the absorption of other nutrients. We’ve noted which prenatals on this list include iron.

Omega-3s are linked to reducing the risk of preterm birth and promoting healthy gestational length. Additionally, they support the development of the baby’s heart and immune system. For mothers, omega-3s help reduce inflammation, support mood stability, and may even lower the risk of postpartum depression. Since the body can’t produce omega-3s naturally, getting them through a diet, such as fatty fish or supplements, during pregnancy is important. We’ve noted which prenatals on this list bundle in your omega-3s.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a great addition to prenatal vitamins because it plays a vital role in energy production and antioxidant protection. During pregnancy, your body’s energy needs increase, and CoQ10 helps support healthy cellular energy levels, which can be especially beneficial for both the mother and the growing baby. It’s also a powerful antioxidant, helping to protect cells from oxidative stress, which is important for overall health during pregnancy. Some studies suggest that CoQ10 may even improve egg quality and fertility, making it a helpful nutrient for those trying to conceive. Including CoQ10 in your prenatal can give you an extra boost of energy and added protection against cell damage. We’ve noted which prenatals on this list include CoQ10.

6. Consider the form and what’s best for you (pills, powder, etc.).

Think about which form of prenatal vitamin will work best for you — pills, powders, or even a bar! If you go the pill route, consider how many pills you are comfortable taking daily; higher doses of nutrients often require multiple pills, which could be a tradeoff for reaching functional dosages. The smell and size of the pills can also impact your tolerance, especially if you are experiencing nausea or morning sickness.

7. Evaluate cost, convenience, and packaging.

Finally, consider your budget, the convenience of accessing your prenatal vitamin (whether through local stores, online subscriptions, or pharmacy delivery), and packaging sustainability. Some prenatals offer individual daily packaging, which is highly convenient but less environmentally friendly. Top brands offer monthly subscriptions and refills, making it easy to get your prenatals in the mail and on time every month. It’s worth considering the factors that can affect your consistency in taking the supplement and your overall satisfaction with the experience.

WeNatal understands that nutrient deficiencies are a big reason why couples struggle to get pregnant. The brand stands out as one of the few on the market that aligns with current clinical recommendations for choline, folate, zinc, vitamin A and vitamin D. The formula includes 24 scientifically proven ingredients (almost double compared to what’s on the market), that benefit both moms AND dads-to-be from preconception to post postpartum. That’s right: Conception is not a one-sided equation, and it shouldn’t be up to only one partner to prepare their bodies for a possible pregnancy. WeNatal serves couples with clean and science-backed formulas — the three prenatal pills for women have a whopping 400 mg of choline, and the WeNatal For Him contains 100 mcg of selenium (essential for sperm motility), among other antioxidants and nutrient-dense ingredients.

As for taste/smell, we love the mintiness and how easy these three capsules are to swallow. The microencapsulation technology protects nutrient potency, ensuring they remain stable until released in the digestive system, reducing nausea and stomach upset and providing better absorption. From beautiful packaging and travel cases to the family manifestation journal, WeNatal brings partners together and makes us feel less alone on a journey that sometimes feels isolating.

My Review | “This is easily my favorite prenatal on the market as they’ve fit functional doses of bioavailable ingredients into three pills that are super easy to swallow and come in gorgeous bottles I can store on my kitchen counter (because pregnancy brain!). I took it before, during, and after my pregnancy, and while going through IVF. I truly believe the men’s prenatal is what improved my husband’s sperm count between six months of testing, and after taking WeNatal, we were able to get two healthy embryos, which resulted in our healthy baby girl.

For a brand that literally walks us through our pre- and post-conception journey, we love Perelel, founded specifically by an OBGYN. These prenatal vitamins with bioavailable ingredients are specific to each trimester (including a men’s multi-packs) for the most effective supplements, and the colorful and counter-friendly packaging isn’t terrible to look at either. When trying Perelel for ourselves, we loved the simplicity (trying to conceive is exhausting enough) and how travel-friendly the individual packets are. We took them on the road for a weekend trip and saved so much room in our suitcase. The supplements are also a no-nausea formula, and we had no issue getting these down in the morning on an empty stomach. Our editor also loves Perelel’s postnatal vitamins for supporting healthy healing after birth. Perelel is Clean Label Project-certified ensuring it’s products are at the top percentile of purity and quality.

My Review | “I’m really impressed by these prenatals! The ingredients and formulations feel so well-tailored to my exact stage, and I love that they’re designed by OBGYNs and a top-notch medical team. The individual packets are super handy for travel, but I do wish they’d cut back on the plastic waste for everyday use.

Frequency & Dosage | 2 scoops per day; 8 capsules per day
Form | Powder & capsules
Price | $63 for a 30-day supply of powder

Needed prenatal wins in our book when it comes to taste and form. While the brand offers capsule supplements, we were most intrigued by the prenatal multi-powder, formulated by perinatal and nutrition experts and packed with 400 mg of choline. We blended the vanilla powder inito our morning smoothie and also tried it with nut milk (so delicious!). We also tried the ethically sourced prenatal collagen powder for extra protein dissolved in our morning coffee and couldn’t even taste it. We love that Needed — a certified B Corp — offers a wide range of supplements for all stages of conception and for men, too. The sample packets make it easy to test and try before committing to a month’s supply.

My Review | “Needed’s prenatal powder is a serious lifesaver if you can’t stomach capsules. It’s gentle on the stomach, and the vanilla flavor isn’t overly powerful. I love mixing it into a morning smoothie with additional antioxidants and adding a scoop of collagen powder as well. It’s not chalky and I hardly notice it’s even there.”

Natalist makes taking prenatal vitamins easier and more enjoyable with their chewable prenatal gummy vitamins. Long gone are the days when you plan your supplement schedule throughout the day, as these gummies pack 21 key vitamins for optimal maternal and fetal health in just three vegetarian gummies. They taste delicious, are perfect for on-the-go, and actually make us look forward to taking our prenatals. We also love the addition of DHA, as each serving includes 75 mg for optimal brain, eye, and nervous system development. At the same time, highly bioavailable MTHF folate works to protect against neural tube defects. All your essentials — and more — in just three gummies a day.

My Review | “I love that these prenatal gummies make me feel like a kid again. They are soft, chewy, and perfect for days when I just can’t stomach another vitamin in pill form. They also have DHA, which I love! (One less pill, you know?)”

5. FullWell

Clean Ingredients | Bioavailable nutrients, non-GMO, allergen-friendly
Standout Features | Developed by a registered dietician & fertility expert, monthly subscriptions, HSA/FSA eligible
Frequency & Dosage | 8 capsules per day
Form | Capsules
Price | $50 for a 30-day supply

FullWell was developed by Ayla Barmmer, a registered dietician, women’s health and fertility expert, and mama herself. What we love most about these prenatal vitamins are the stellar ingredients and the fact that the formulas are non-GMO and third-party tested. While you have to take four fairly large capsules twice a day, FullWell includes more choline, magnesium, and calcium than most prenatal vitamins on the market and ingredients in active, bioavailable forms. They are also free from allergens like soy, gluten, corn, and dairy. For us, that tradeoff is worth putting the best ingredients in our bodies to prepare for conception or during pregnancy/postpartum.

That said, these may be harder to stomach while experiencing morning sickness (the smell is fairly strong and might be off-putting if your scent is heightened) or if you have difficulty with pills. Still, it gets an A+ in our book. The monthly subscription and bundle options (the brand has fish oil, a nerve-calming tonic, and men’s prenatal) are great for saving on cost as well.

My Review | “Full transparency: the eight pills a day is a lot — and these aren’t small pills either. I am partial to this brand because of the potency and how incredible the ingredients are (worth it, IMO), but it may be difficult to stomach if you’re having nausea in the first trimester. I recommend these specifically for those going through IVF and fertility journeys, as they can be easier to take during pre-conception! And once you can handle taking pills again, this a top pick from the team!”

6. Ritual

Clean Ingredients | Bioavailable nutrients, non-GMO, vegan, gluten & major allergen-free
Standout Features | Monthly subscriptions, recycled packaging, third-party testing, traceable supply chain, eligible for FSA & HSA reimbursements
Frequency & Dosage | 2 capsules per day
Form | Capsules
Price | $44 for a 30-day supply

Ritual is more than just a leading name for natural supplements — the brand is also one of our neighbors, located in sunny SoCal. We love that these prenatals integrate a dozen clean (and fully traceable) nutrients responsibly sourced worldwide to guide us from pre- to post-pregnancy. The capsules are also vegan-friendly and free from gluten, allergens, and GMOs.

It’s important to note that Ritual’s prenatal supplement offers lower doses of several key nutrients needed during pregnancy, including just 10% of the recommended daily value of choline. If you’re experiencing dietary gaps or have significant food aversions during pregnancy, you may want to consider a more comprehensive prenatal option. Otherwise, we love this as a more budget-friendly option and that you can choose from citrus or mint and allow yourself to smile while taking just two (yes, two!) golden capsules.

My Review | “I’ve been taking Ritual on and off for the past few years of my fertility journey and, I have to say, it’s one of the easier prenatals on my stomach! I love that it’s only two pills and that it comes in a minty or citrusy flavor. While it lacks a few of the ingredients I prefer from other brands, it’s a great budget option, and the subscription model with fast shipping makes it easy to restock.”

If you struggle with taking multiple prenatal vitamins daily — we hear you — and so does Tend Prenatal. Founded by Hannah and Behzad Varamini, they were inspired to create an easy-to-take prenatal after Hannah struggled with swallowing pills throughout her whole life. And so, the Tend bars were born! These snackable prenatals contain 25 essential nutrients, all from organic whole foods, and with zero synthetic vitamins, minerals, or fillers (and it’s vegan). You’ll get a whopping 4000 IU of vitamin D, 105 mg of choline, 700 mcg of folate, and even more in each bar. Best of all, you only need one bar a day! Choose from flavors like lemon berry, chocolate sea salt, strawberry patch, and chocolate peanut butter, or get the variety pack to taste all four.

My Review | “OMG! A pregnancy without a million horse pills? I rejoiced when I learned of these bars. They’re delicious (of course, the chocolate is my favorite) and pack all the nutrients needed for prenatal support.”

Seeking Health carries a number of prenatal supplements in capsules and powders, but our favorite is the Optimal Prenatal Capsules for its five-star ingredients, including 800 mcg of folate and 250 mg of choline. Suitable for vegetarians and free from allergens and GMOs, these capsules contain all of the bioavailable nutrients our bodies (and future babies!) need for healthy development and pregnancy. Again, this one requires four capsules twice a day (a big ask, we know!), but the smell and taste are fairly subtle. The best ingredients that are relatively easy to consume — a win-win!

My Review | “Another brand we both love and dread (eight pills, gah!). The ingredients are some of the best, though, and we are grateful for how gentle it is on our stomachs, despite the horse-sized pills.”

For the most affordable option on our list, we turn to Garden of Life, a company that has been around since 2000. The Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal is a comprehensive whole-food multi-nutrient formula specifically formulated to meet the unique needs of women during pre-conception, pregnancy and lactation. With over 20 powdered organically grown fruits and vegetables, it offers the nourishment to support us and our developing baby. We especially love that this specific formula is free from synthetic binders or fillers, artificial flavors, sweeteners, or additives commonly used in tablets. If you’d prefer tablets, the prenatal once daily is another affordable option. It is USDA organic, tummy-friendly, and includes fruits, vegetables, and herbs in its formulation.

My Review | “For the most affordable option, these are a great choice for a daily prenatal, especially since it’s only three pills a day!”

Why Should You Consider Organic Prenatals?

When it comes to supporting your growing baby (and your own body!), every little choice matters—including the prenatal vitamins you choose. Organic prenatals can be a smart way to reduce your exposure to synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and genetically modified ingredients, which often show up in conventional supplements. In fact, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) has flagged concerns about toxic chemicals in some prenatal vitamins, noting that they can have long-lasting effects on both mom and baby. By choosing organic, you’re opting for vitamins that meet higher purity standards and often undergo extra testing for things like heavy metals. While organic doesn’t automatically mean perfect, it’s a step in the right direction for mamas-to-be who want to be a little more mindful. At the end of the day, it’s about giving your baby the best start possible, while also taking care of yourself.

What Are the Relevant Certifications for Prenatals?

With so many prenatal vitamins on the market, those tiny certification symbols can actually tell you a lot! In the U.S., the FDA doesn’t pre-approve dietary supplements the same way it does for prescription meds, so third-party certifications are key to knowing what you’re really getting. Look for the USP Verified seal, which confirms your vitamins meet strict standards for quality and purity. There’s also NSF International, which makes sure supplements actually contain what’s on the label (no sketchy fillers here!). And if you see a GMP Certified mark, that means the vitamins are made in a facility that follows strict safety and quality practices. These certifications can give you that extra peace of mind, especially when you’re already navigating a million pregnancy decisions.

When Should You Start Taking Prenatals?

Here’s a pro tip that’s often overlooked: You should start taking prenatal vitamins before you’re even pregnant. Experts recommend starting them at least one to three months before you start trying to conceive, because nutrients like folic acid are essential for your baby’s development in those very first weeks (before most women even know they’re pregnant!).

Dr. Natalie Crawford, MD, a fertility doctor in Austin, Texas, and host of the “As a Woman” podcast explains that we are born with a (metaphorical) “vault” of all the eggs we’ll ever have in our ovaries. Each month, a few of these eggs leave the ovary, with just one of that group eventually ovulating. “However, the entire process of folliculogenesis [creating a follicle] takes three months,” says Dr. Crawford. “I like to explain this as: Your eggs are starting to be selected three months prior to when they are the group available to grow and ovulate. This represents a time when our eggs are likely more sensitive to the world around us, and setting a good foundation with your lifestyle can be beneficial.”

Dr. Crawford continues, “The rule for preconception is starting folic acid three months before you conceive. Since folic acid is essential in fetal development, specifically the development of the brain and spinal cord, starting folic acid before conception is crucial to avoid birth defects.” The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) suggests aiming for at least 400 micrograms of folic acid daily during this time, as it helps prevent neural tube defects.

Beyond folic acid, prenatal vitamins are packed in with other essentials like iron, calcium, and DHA to help keep you and your baby healthy. According to the Cleveland Clinic, getting a head start on prenatal vitamins helps your body be pregnancy-ready when the time is right. So think of it as your first little act of love, long before you’re sharing baby kicks and nursery plans.

While pregnancy is a beautiful experience, it also demands a lot from our bodies—our skin rapidly expands, we go through bouts of itchiness, and that general feeling of “tightness” becomes an everyday symptom. But instead of suffering, we can turn to a good belly oil to help calm and soothe our skin. Belly oils are made with pregnancy in mind, unlike most body oils, which don’t account for the specific conditions unique to pregnancy.

Why use belly oil during pregnancy?

Using belly oil during pregnancy is not just about hydration—it’s about protecting both you and your growing baby with the safest, cleanest ingredients possible. As your skin stretches and becomes more absorbent, what you apply topically matters more than ever. That’s why choosing a nontoxic, clean belly oil is so essential.

We love these belly oil brands that are free from synthetic fragrances, parabens, phthalates, and other harsh chemicals — clean formulations nourish our skin without exposing us or our baby to unnecessary toxins, after all! The below brands also offer rich natural oils and botanical extracts to support skin elasticity while offering peace of mind, and since pregnancy is a time of heightened awareness and care, we want our skincare to reflect that—pure, purposeful, and safe for every stage of the journey.

Our criteria:

Our team of moms has used, researched, and reviewed clean beauty and skincare specific to pregnancy for years. These are our favorite organic belly oils that use natural ingredients and are super moisturizing. Even those with sensitive skin will find options on this list. We regularly update our guide with new picks that meet the criteria below.

 • MOISTURIZING | We’ve personally used these brands and found that their formulas are super hydrating and never harmful to us or our growing babies.
 • ORGANIC | We’ve selected options that use organic ingredients so you can be sure nothing was treated with harmful chemicals at any point in the process.
 • NATURAL INGREDIENTS | These brands use natural ingredients while avoiding parabens, phthalates, or artificial fragrance.

While you’re getting your belly rub on, check out our guides for natural prenatal vitaminssustainable maternity clothes and best nursing bras.

1. Hatch

Best For | Quick-drying belly oil
Natural & Organic Ingredients | Sweet almond, grapefruit, & jojoba seed oils, calendula, rosemary extract, rosehip oil

Hatch’s natural skincare products are plant-derived, vegan, and free of parabens, dyes, and synthetic fragrances. The Belly Oil in particular has a whopping seven plant- and seed-based oils, including sweet almond oil for Vitamin E, antioxidant-rich grapefruit oil, and hydrating jojoba seed oil. Whether you use it on your own belly or your baby’s, we love how it effortlessly soaks into the skin without any greasy residue. Between the lightweight natural formula and the comforting scent, we can see why this is an expecting parent’s favorite.

2. Tubby Todd

Best For | Fragrance-free belly oil
Natural & Organic Ingredients | Organic fruit extracts, jojoba oil, sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, pomegranate extract

Tubby Todd’s Belly Oil is like a daily love note to your bump—hydrating, soothing, and totally clean. Packed with nourishing plant oils (hi, pomegranate and sunflower!), it helps your skin stay soft and stretchy without any sketchy ingredients. Plus, it’s fragrance-free and gentle enough for sensitive skin, so you can lather up with zero worries and all the glow.

3. OSEA

Best For | Belly & body oil
Natural & Organic Ingredients | Undaria seaweed, sunflower, grapefruit, & sesame oils, rice bran extract, sunflower extract

OSEA’s Undaria Algae Body Oil is an all-time favorite on The Good Trade team—and it can be used throughout pregnancy as well. Clinically proven to improve elasticity and retain moisture, this best-selling oil is perfect for your belly as your skin expands (as well as the rest of your body!). It smells heavenly yet subtle, is rich without being too heavy, and can be used on dry or damp skin. While we’re pro-stretch marks, if that’s a concern to you, some reviews praise the oil’s ability to reduce scars and stretch marks across the body. (And did we mention that purchases at OSEA are climate-neutral and cruelty-free? A win-win for everyone.) Read our full Osea review here.

4. Natalist

Best For | Hydrating belly oil that minimizes itchy skin
Natural & Organic Ingredients | Organic argan oil, organic shea butter, organic coconut oil, organic olive oil

For a hydrating and dewy oil that’s formulated to soothe your growing belly each step of the way, Natalist’s formula shines (literally). Made with simple and wholesome ingredients in the USA, this oil will leave your skin feeling smooth and supple while helping improve skin elasticity. Besides keeping your skin nourished, Natalist is at the forefront of producing quality products that are sustainable, ethically made and free of toxins and other harmful ingredients. This oil is vegan and made in a cruelty-free facility with absolutely no parabens, phthalates, dyes, or petroleum. We almost forgot to mention they are 100% plastic neutral. We’re sold!

5. Mother Mother

Best For | Face & belly oil
Natural & Organic Ingredients | Cranberry seed, pomegranate, marula, borage, & baobab oils, calendula extract

If you’re tired of getting one pregnancy-safe oil for your face and another for your body, you’re in luck: Mother Mother’s Face + Belly Oil is the two-in-one you’ve been looking for. Safe enough to use across your skin, this “everything” oil is made for expecting and new parents in mind, and at a price that won’t break the bank. Derived from 11 deeply nourishing oils—think sunflower seed and neroli oils—this blend will nourish and hydrate your skin (or your little one’s) without any greasiness or stains. Just a couple of drops from boobs to belly will go a long way here.

6. Ingrid + Isabel

Best For | EWG-verified blend belly oil
Natural & Organic | Apricot kernel oil, organic marshmallow root, organic calendula, organic rosehip, lavender, & chamomile, rose absolute
Price | $35 for 4 oz.

Ingrid + Isabel has long been made with moms and babies in mind—even the name is a testament to the mother-daughter relationship (Isabel is Ingrid’s daughter!). Verified by the Environmental Working Group for safety, the brand’s belly oil is about as safe and sustainable as you can get. Instead of worrying about whether your products contain chemicals that could harm your growing baby, you can indulge with this formula chock-full of responsibly sourced and organic ingredients. In fact, there are only seven ingredients overall (listed above), so you won’t find any fillers or fake preservatives here. Address every concern from itchiness to tightness in this magical belly oil.

7. Zoe Organics

Best For | Organic belly butter
Natural & Organic Ingredients | Organic shea butter, organic coconut, rosehip, & avocado oils, rosemary & calendula extract, essential oils

If you’re not a fan of belly oil, you may love Zoe Organics’ Belly Butter instead (though the brand does offer a Belly Oil as well). Formulated of 100 percent organic ingredients, this concentrated and waterless blend can be used from pregnancy through postpartum as a hydrating treatment. If you’re open to scents, this one smells divine thanks to the ylang ylang and sandalwood essential oils—sensual and soothing but not overbearing. If you decide to pair the belly oil and butter together, the team recommends the belly oil first and the butter after. A calming and conscious ritual for every stage of pregnancy.

While pregnant, we know that the substances we consume are vital to our health. But we don’t often consider how topical products affect our babies too. Our skin absorbs about 60 percent of topical applications! So, parents-to-be must be extra vigilant in finding nontoxic skincare and cosmetics.

What ingredients should you look for when shopping for pregnancy-safe makeup? We’re glad you asked.

It can feel overwhelming to know exactly which ingredients to avoid. This Unclean15 list details the most harmful ingredients in cosmetics. We also recommend using EWG Skin Deep to search and confirm if the products you’re already using are safe.

Below are a few of the most used and best to avoid:

 • Retinol or retinoids (vitamin A). Retinoids are in many anti-aging products. They can cause serious birth defects.
 • Parabens. Preservative agents are often found in foundations and lipsticks. Researchers have linked parabens to neurological and developmental disruptions in babies.
 • Fragrance. Synthetic scents often contain phthalates, which can cause reproductive malformation. Unfortunately, the FDA doesn’t always test essential oils either. These oils have a high concentration that can be dangerous to our health, even when used directly on the skin outside of pregnancy.
 • Oxybenzone & Titanium Dioxide. Both are often found in sunscreen. The body can absorb these chemical fillers into the bloodstream and there are concerns they may be carcinogenic. Instead, choose a mineral sunscreen for the safest option.
 • Sodium Benzoate. Unfortunately, this chemical is used in both coolants in cars and our cosmetics. There have been studies that show it can cause heightened rates of ADHD and inflammation.

Luckily, there’s a bright side. We’ve found brands offering pregnancy-safe cosmetics and skincare products that do not contain any of these ingredients. These companies provide natural and organic options that will keep you and your baby healthy.

Our criteria and methodology:

As a pregnant person, I researched and tested each of the brands by applying a full face of makeup (2–3 products per brand) that I wore for a long day. I’ve made notes on safety, sensitivity, and general ease of wear. We update this guide as we discover emerging favorites that meet the criteria below.

As a pregnant person, I tested these 9 brands that make clean beauty products that are safe and perform well for expecting parents
 • SAFE | We’ve included EWG-certified brands on this list, all clear of the Unclean15 so you can be sure they’re safe while you’re expecting.
 • PERFORMANCE | I examined the coverage, color match, and my overall skin health.
 • AFFORDABLE | We’ve included brands that offer affordable makeup options. You shouldn’t have to break the bank to look and feel great while expecting!

Best Overall | Most Affordable | Best Pregnancy-Safe Skincare

1. Saie

Climate neutral

Natural materials

Best For | Glowy “no makeup makeup” look
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Squalene, Vitamin E, and Coconut Oil
Prices Starting At | $15
What I Tried | Glowy Super Skin Tint Foundation in 13 ($40); Glowy Super Gel in Starglow ($29); Cream Balm Bronzer in Light Bronze ($33)

Saie is one of those brands you can turn to and know you’re getting the best of the best when it comes to the health of the planet and our bodies. In everything they do, they’re committed to doing better. Their clean ingredients and low carbon footprint set high standards. Under the ingredients list on each product page, you can click on each ingredient and learn more about exactly what it is! (Not to mention, their packaging and branding is super cute.)

I went ahead and grabbed three of Saie’s most talked-about products to get the full “no makeup, makeup look” they’re known for. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The Glowy Super Tint foundation is now a go-to. The color is perfect; it feels lightweight and nourishing while offering buildable coverage. It’s made with Vitamin C and fatty acids, leaving the skin looking dewy and refreshed. Adding a drop of the Glowy Super Gel made with Squalene to my cheeks and eyes brightens and illuminates my skin. I’ve never tried a cream bronzer. But Saie put a “how to use” tab on the product page, which is helping me learn to build and blend it onto my face.

2. ILIA

1% for the planet
Cruelty free
Eco friendly packaging
Natural materials
Plant trees
Recycled materials
Subscriptions available

Best For | Multipurpose products that are easy to use
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Natural & USDA-certified organic ingredients, mineral SPF.
Prices Starting At | $24
What I TriedSuper Serum Skin Tint in Ora ST6 ($48); Lightshift Cream Highlighter in Peachy Gold ($38); Multi Stick in Lady Bird ($36)

ILIA is a TGT fave. Their multitasking products use clean, organic, skin-friendly ingredients. Whether you’re looking for a tinted SPF serum or a Vitamin C formula, ILIA has it all. I tried the Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40, Multi-Stick, and the Lightshift Cream Highlighter. The serum offers buildable coverage while also offering deep moisture. It’s made with a unique blend of niacinamide, squalane, and hyaluronic acid. My skin felt amazing and looked more refreshed after using it. I chose the color Love Bird for the multistick and found it not to be as pigmented as I had hoped. But I love the easy application for face and lips. To finish my natural look with ILIA, I used the cream highlighter. The super-concentrated formula makes the shimmer stand out on my cheeks and eyes. It’s also made with green tea and squalane, love!

3. Tower 28

Doctor approved
Eco friendly packaging
Gives back
Natural materials
Recycled materials
Subscriptions available

Best For | Sensitive acne and eczema-prone skin
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Prickly pear, aloe vera, 100% mineral sunscreen.
Prices Starting At | $15
What I Tried | SunnyDays in Ocean Park ($32); BeachPlease Cream Blush in Power Hour ($20); JuiceBalm Lip Balm in Drink

Tower 28 focuses on making daily makeup for sensitive skin. We all need that, especially when pregnant. Their products follow the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. Along with those prone to acne. They aim to remove harmful chemicals, dyes, or fragrances. Which can disturb those with sensitive skin and make skin conditions worse. Along with being earth-conscious through their recycled plastic initiatives. Tower 28’s products feel like a stroll through Southern California, which makes sense since the name is from a real lifeguard tower in Los Angeles.

I adore Tower 28’s bright and fun packaging, it makes the application more, well, fun. As someone with both acne and eczema-prone skin, I was excited to try the SunnyDays tinted SPF. I thought it would be more translucent like other tinted SPFs I’m used to. However, this one also acts as a foundation with medium/buildable coverage — a little goes a long way and I love it. It is a great option for days I’ll be in the sun for a long period of time but also want a little more coverage. I was surprised at how well the color matched my skin too! Next, I tried the BeachPlease cream blush. It is, without a doubt, my favorite blush ever. It’s highly pigmented and goes on easily to offer a pop of color to the cheeks. To finish off my SoCal beach look, I added the JuiceBalm. I love the bright color and nourishing vitamin E it’s infused with to give my lips both color and moisture.

4. Honest

Budget friendly
Cruelty free
Eco friendly packaging
Gives back
Natural materials
Woman owned

Best For | Vitamin C-infused CC Creams
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Avocado & jojoba oil, acai, pomegranate, mica.
Prices Starting At | $10
What I Tried | CCC Clean Corrective in Dune; Bright Eyes Tinted Eye Cream in Sandstone; Tinted Lip Balm in Blood Orange ($10)

Sustainability and safety are two main values behind Honest’s cosmetics. Their cosmetics are naturally made. They contain no talc, phthalates, or synthetic oils and fragrances. There are also over a dozen shades available. So, you can find your perfect, safe match. Purchases support the team’s commitment to social responsibility. They help mothers and babies across the U.S.

I tried the CCC Corrective Moisturizer and the Honestly Bright Eye Cream. This unique CC cream contains both vitamin C and SPF. This ended up being my top favorite CC cream. It’s a bit more full coverage than some of the other tinted creams, and the color was perfect for my skin tone. It’s one that I can wear alone without feeling like I need to add powders too. I also noticed a difference in my skin’s brightness because of the vitamin C. I haven’t used a tinted eye cream before this one and love how much more awake my eyes look. This cream will be my daily go-to in postpartum to help me look more refreshed and awake.

5. Well People

American made
Cruelty free
Eco friendly packaging
FSC
Fair trade
Natural materials

Best For | Affordable, buildable products
Pregnancy-Friendly Ingredients | Organic, botanical, and plant-based ingredients.
Prices Starting At | $12
What I Tried | Bio Correct Concealer in 3N ($23); Supernatural Stick Bronzer in Light Tan ($22); Lush Tinted Lip Oil in Soft Peony ($12)

Well People commits to safe, clean, plant-powered, cruelty-free makeup. The brand has removed organic beeswax, pearl powder, and carmine from its formulas — making them 100% vegan! Over 100 of their products are EWG-verified, and their boxes use FSC-certified paper. The brand is also exploring corn, sugar, and post-consumer materials for its containers for a bright future. With hydrating broccoli seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, and soothing mango seed oil, you can enjoy these clean, pregnancy-friendly beauty looks every trimester and beyond. Their products contain unique skin-nourishing ingredients, like hydrating broccoli seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, and soothing mango seed oil, to give your skin extra love every trimester and beyond.

Concealer is a must-have in my daily skincare routine, so I loved trying Well People’s full-coverage liquid version. The texture is lightweight, allowing for a buildable application. I noticed it shifted a bit throughout the day. But it was easy to apply more as needed, especially with a CC cream. I was excited to try my first stick bronzer. I adore the color and easy, buildable application of Well People’s Supernatural Stick. Its formula of organic green tea and jojoba oil nourishes my skin. It gave my cheeks a natural-looking definition that lasted all day. To finish this minimalist makeup look, I used the Lush Tinted Lip Oil. Living in a dry place like Colorado, moisturizing lip balms are a must. I adore this one’s high-shine, non-sticky texture. That also improved my lip health since it’s made without mineral oil, BHT, or beeswax, but instead an organic, nourishing, botanical blend.

6. Ecco Bella

Cruelty free
Eco friendly packaging
Natural materials

Best For | Refillable makeup with skin-healing ingredients
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Organic oils, vitamin E, green tea extract, and mica.
Prices Starting At | $15
What I Tried | FlowerColor Foundation in Natural ($33); Vegan Good For You Gloss in Power ($22)

Ecco Bella fuses science and beauty with a line of USA-made cosmetics for the face, eyes, and lips. Each formula combines plant-based ingredients to both treat and protect your skin. Want to be safe and sustainable? Opt for Ecco Bella’s refillable compacts to reduce excess packaging and waste.

Ecco Bella’s products topped my list of favorites. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a makeup brand that claimed its products could actually help heal skin while also offering coverage. But this liquid foundation is incredible. It’s a very full coverage option that stays on all day. It’s infused with aloe and natural clay, which truly nourish the skin. It doesn’t have that cakey, heavy feeling that most liquid foundations do. I was also amazed at how long it lasted, given it’s a natural foundation. I’m also obsessed with the lip gloss. It’s made with flowers, which offer rich pigment and act more like a lip stain than a gloss. I love the buildable, long-lasting color.

7. RMS

Cruelty free
Eco friendly packaging
Vegan
Woman owned

Best For | Wildcrafted, herbal-infused, full-coverage makeup
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Non-GMO, free from nanos, parabens, phthalates, and sulfates, and organic ingredients where possible.
Prices Starting At | $15
What I Tried | UnCoverup Concealer in 22 ($40); UnCoverup Cream Foundation in 22 ($60); Legendary Serum Lipstick in Eve ($36)

For over a decade, RMS Beauty has been setting the standard for clean cosmetics. They’re known for their inclusive, long-lasting foundations and concealers. They won’t irritate the skin. They hand-select and formulate all their products. They use raw, food-grade, organic, wildcrafted, natural ingredients. Ensuring they’re safe for pregnancy and beyond.

I tried RMS’s award-winning UnCoverup Concealer and Cream Foundation. This line is special because it’s made with nourishing skin oils, like buriti and organic coconut oil. Along with RMS’s signature adaptogenic herbal blend. Offering the skin a super-hydrating yet full-coverage finish. The concealer has a light yet full-coverage effect that works well under foundation. Applying the highly concentrated foundation, however, required a wet brush. It took a lot of time to master. What this means is you only need a tiny amount, so it will last a long time. The color was perfect, and I loved the full coverage that lasted all day. To finish off the look, I tried the Legendary Serum Lipstick in Eve. I adore this color and the mattifying effects. It’s my new everyday go-to as a pregnant person looking to feel her best.

8. Juice Beauty

Cruelty free
Eco friendly packaging
Gives back
Natural materials
Recycled materials
Vegan

Best For | Farm-to-beauty
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Plant-derived phyto-pigments, USDA-certified organic ingredients.
Prices Starting At | $12
What I Tried | Stem Cellular CC Cream in Desert Glow ($40); Phyto-Pigments Light Diffusing Dust in Sand Light ($30)

If you want clean beauty that goes the extra mile, try Juice Beauty‘s PHYTO-PIGMENTS™. With plant-based formulas, these products are antioxidant-rich, vegan, and free from synthetic coloring. Cold-pressed organic oils make these super moisturizing. They also give a vibrant color and illuminate your skin.

I tried the Stem Cellular CC Cream and Light-Diffusing Dust. I’ve been wanting to experiment with CC creams as a busy mom to a toddler and another baby on the way. This cream felt like silk when I put it on, smelled like natural botanicals, and a little goes a long way. I got it in Desert Glow, and it ended up being a little light for my complexion. But I loved using the Light-Diffusing Dust to add smoothness and reduce shine on top of the cream. Both products offer light coverage, making them best for a quick, natural look.

9. Luv & Company

BIPOC Owned
Cruelty free
Gluten free
Natural materials
Subscriptions available
Woman owned

Best For | Melanin match foundations
Pregnancy-Safe Ingredients | Vegetable oils & wax, shea & cocoa butters, herbs, mica.
Prices Starting At | $24
What I Tried | Melanin Match Liquid Foundation in LY10 ($62); Single Ladies Pressed Eyeshadow in Blossom ($24)

Luv + Co. is the inclusive and nontoxic cosmetic line we’ve been waiting for. This Black woman-owned and run brand is best suited for melanin-rich parents-to-be. You can find a range of cruelty-free, natural, mineral makeup. It includes highly pigmented lipsticks and rich brow pomades. They will instantly elevate your look.

With a wide range of skin tone options, I was a little nervous about whether I’d be able to get the right match. And, in the end, the color was a few shades too light for my skin tone. You might have to try more than once to get your match. The texture of the foundation is also different from anything I’ve used — it’s quite liquid at first and requires a lot of rubbing in, but once on, it dries into a powder. It’s very buildable, but you have to be quick before it dries. It’s likely better suited to a different skin texture. However, I loved their eyeshadow for a natural yet elevated everyday look. It’s also made with 75% organic ingredients, perfect for those with sensitive eyes like me.

Bonus: Pregnancy-Safe Skincare We Love

When it comes to beauty during pregnancy, it’s not just about swapping out cosmetics—it’s just as important to choose skincare with pregnancy-safe ingredients. With so many changes happening in our bodies, finding products that nourish, soothe, and support our skin can make a world of difference. That’s why we love these two brands, which offer a perfect balance of pregnancy-safe makeup and deeply nourishing skincare. From hydrating serums and face masks to glow-boosting tints, these picks help us feel refreshed, radiant, and a little more like ourselves, even on the most exhausting days.

Ere Perez

BIPOC Owned
Cruelty free
Eco friendly packaging
Gluten free
Natural materials
Soy free
Vegetarian
Woman owned

Our Editor Recommendations | Australian Blue Cypress Face Nectar ($39); Fig-All Beauty Jelly ($38)

Navigating beauty during pregnancy means being mindful of what we put on our skin, which is why we love Ere Perez. The brand specializes in clean, plant-based formulas that are both gentle and effective and free from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Their oat milk foundation melts into the skin, while antioxidant-rich skincare infused with botanical oils keeps us feeling nourished and glowing. We trust their pregnancy-safe essentials to support our skin through every trimester and beyond. Some products contain essential oils, so it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor or do a patch test for sensitivity.

Olive Tree People

Eco friendly packaging
Gives back
Natural materials

Our Editor Recommendations | Olive Matcha Face Mask ($55); Serum Hydroxytyrosol Skin Tint ($60)

Pregnancy has us rethinking everything we put on our skin, which is why we love Olive Tree People. Rooted in the power of hydroxytyrosol—an ultra-potent antioxidant derived from organic olive trees—their formulas are designed to deeply nourish, protect, and restore balance. The No-Makeup line enhances skin with lightweight, skincare-infused coverage, while the Olive Oil Face Mask delivers intense hydration and replenishes the skin barrier. Unlike conventional brands that refine and standardize ingredients, Olive Tree People embraces nature’s wisdom—allowing each harvest to bring subtle variations in color, scent, and texture while maintaining the integrity of their time-tested formulas. The result is skincare that works in synergy with our skin, keeping us resilient and radiant through every stage of pregnancy.
